Dear Parents/Guardians,
As you may have heard the government are launching an antigen testing strategy for schools from Monday.
Two clarifications:
1) School staff will not under any circumstances be administering antigen tests to pupils.
2) Schools do not have a supply of antigen tests and cannot provide them to you.
The new scheme works as follows. When the principal is informed that a child has had a positive PCR test for Covid, he rings each parent in that child's pod to advise them of this. All children who do not have symptoms should continue attending school.
If the parent wishes they can use antigen tests to test their asymptomatic child. If the parent rings 1800 110055 they can request 5 free antigen tests to be posted to their home.
This is an optional service, parents do not need to participate in it and they do not communicate results with the school. If a child develops symptoms or has a positive antigen test they should stay home and get a PCR test.
In an instance where more than one child in a class tests positive in a 7 day period then all pupils and staff can call the number above and follow the same procedures.
The school roll number is 19970P which you will need to order the tests. Again this is a voluntary system and parents are not obliged to antigen test their asymptomatic children.
I'm happy to discuss this further if you need any clarifications.
Mr. Barron
